Yes! More Fur Less is taking quote requests and will respond to every serious request. However, we may not be able to accommodate every commission as we put a high level of detail and attention into every More Fur Less creation. Our average turnaround time for most commissions is under a year! If your commission is approved, you will receive a more accurate completion estimate based on the current queue when your order has been paid in full. Other factors, such as design complexity and choice of materials, may affect the projected completion time frame and final price. Visit our Fursuit Options page[link] to find answers to some of your questions and get the process started!
More Fur Less makes fursuits to fit a range of budgets, tastes, and needs. Every fursuit we make is unique, and the final cost of any fursuit will depend on the scope of the suit, additional features, design complexity, buyer's material specifications, and many other factors. Visit our Fursuit Products & Options page to see all the options for various fursuit combinations. We do our best to work within your specified budget and are happy to accommodate many special requests.

More Fur Less makes costumes for the entertainment industry, stage, TV, film, and video. If your script calls for monsters, mascots, giant puppets, animal costumes, or other creature effects, MFL will design and build to suit your production needs. Contact More Fur Less directly for a quote with your project's character description, performance specs, deadline, and budget.
More Fur Less makes stylized animal costumes to order, and can include suit modifications to specifications, including hidden zippers, SPH's, and functional or non-functional male, female, and other parts. When you submit your quote request, specify your requested modifications in the Body Upgrades section’s Notes field. Don’t worry, we aren’t shy, and will always strive to protect your privacy. These options are strictly for suiters 18 or over, with no exceptions — thank you for your understanding.
More Fur Less offers moving jaws with some fursuit head designs. Currently the feature is not available for some designs, but we're working to offer even more moving-jaw designs in the future. Interested in a moving jaw? Just let us know when you submit your quote request.
More Fur Less designs custom characters in several ways. Our Artistic Liberty commissions invite the buyer to set a budget and, if they choose, specify some elements (such as species, plantigrade versus digitigrade, and colors to avoid), and our designers will dream up the rest. More Fur Less also designs characters to order based on reference art provided by the buyer, who will submit a reference sheet (and any other supporting reference materials) to make the character's look and features clear to our designers so we can interpret it in our style.
We design fursuits to express a buyer's character in our own style. We will never knowingly duplicate someone else's character design or try to make suits that match another maker's style. When a buyer orders a character from us, they are promising that they have the explicit right to the reference design; in turn, we provide every buyer with a one-of-a-kind work of art they can be proud to perform in.
More Fur Less creates costumes of characters that our clients have the clear right to reproduce — in other words, their original characters. We will never infringe on copyrights, trademarks, patents, or any other intellectual property rights, observing both the law and common decency. Clients may submit artwork of other characters along with their reference sheet if it's relevant for explaining an aspect of their commission (a particular marking, color scheme, expression, anatomy, etc.), but the resulting design will steer clear of any infringement risk.
References for the suit design should include artwork that shows the character from a front, back, and side view — preferably a standard reference sheet by an artist who specializes in ref sheets. If you haven't already gotten yours, we recommend Brooki (email her at brookidingotaylor@gmail.com and tell her MFL sent ya). Alternatively, you can use a combination of artworks that together demonstrate the character clearly from all view angles. If you already own another suit of the same character, you can use photos of that suit from all three views, kind of like a living reference, so MFL can reproduce the character in our style. Feel free to link to additional reference materials to demonstrate traits you'd like your suit to include — art and photos of other fursuits or actual animals are acceptable reference and inspiration for developing your character, though of course MFL will not reproduce anyone else's character design. Explain why you included each one in the Reference Links & Notes field. Make sure your visuals are hosted somewhere that doesn’t prohibit downloading your linked images — our designers will collect all your linked reference in your file. Not sure where to upload it? Try any of the free hosting or file transfer sites like Dropbox, or one of the free furry gallery sites, which is also a great place to share suit photos once you’ve got your paws on the new you!
Although More Fur Less head designs continue to evolve, your commission is customizable. If you're interested in a particular head shape, we can design to suit your taste — just be sure to include that information in the notes and a photo with your reference when you submit your quote request.
More Fur Less can design and make custom clothes and props for new MFL suit orders, but our staff cannot keep up with general demand. We suggest supporting furry vendors who specialize in custom accessories.

More Fur Less will take rush orders if circumstances permit — in other words, only if we can complete the work by your deadline without affecting our other buyers' delivery estimates. Rush or deadline requests must be indicated clearly when you submit your order. Our shop manager will attempt to accommodate reasonable requests, or in some cases work with you to determine a target delivery date that works for both parties. Rushing an order increases our costs for labor and often materials, and will incur an additional fee that will be noted in your quote.
We cannot guarantee that we'll be able to transport your suit to a specific convention or that doing so will save a significant amount on shipping. But we're willing to try to make it work! Contact us with your request and we'll discuss it and try to find a way.
We get it — it's a lot to think about, especially if you're not familiar with fursuit terminology. The quote request form gives us a good starting point for understanding the scope of your project; for most quotes we suggest completing as much of the form as you can, making a note of any questions in the Notes field so we can get in touch to sort it out when we prepare your quote. For time-sensitive serious inquiries, please email MoreFurLess@gmail.com.
More Fur Less welcomes payment by credit/debit card (U.S.), bank transfers, Cash App, PayPal, and several other payment methods — don't see your preferred method listed? Please ask!
More Fur Less offers payment plans for custom fursuits, Artistic Liberty commissions, and other custom work. Once you've accepted the quote, a non-refundable deposit of 20% is due within 30 days, and we’ll help you work out a payment timeline for the rest! More Fur Less gives you two years to complete your payments and we’ll add you to the queue when you make your final payment. We don’t hold queue spots until the commission is fully paid. Our adoption suits must be paid in full within 72 hours of close of sale and do not qualify for payment plans — see Adoptions page for full details.
More Fur Less custom suits are designed to fit the wearer. Every body is unique, and in most cases a standard set of body dimension measurements is all we need to build a fine-fitting suit. If a buyer's design calls for a tightly form-fitting suit, or if the character design is very unusual, we may request a duct-tape dummy for the best possible fit.
More Fur Less uses standard measurements to make fursuits. Clients are encouraged to have a friend help, following the simple instructions we’ll send you for taking measurements for fursuits. NOTE: Do not take your measurements until MFL prompts you! When we are ready to actually build your suit, we want your most current sizes to ensure the best possible fit. If you're concerned about the accuracy of your friend's measurements, consider visiting a tailor to have them fill out our easy fursuit measurement form; many department stores or formalwear rental shops will measure you for a low cost — call around to ask.
More Fur Less uses standard measurements to custom-fit our fursuits, and most More Fur Less fursuits do not require a duct-tape dummy (DTD). If your suit is very form-fitting or involves complex geometry, our designers may request additional measurements and/or a DTD, which is an easy and inexpensive way to send us a mannequin of your body. Do not send a DTD unless explicitly requested! For health and hygiene reasons, MFL will not handle unsolicited DTDs, and reserves the right to discard them without notification or compensation. If a DTD is required, it will only be used for the current order and will not be retained or returned, as DTDs may be damaged during suit design & production. Any future orders would require a new and current DTD.
More Fur Less does not make duct-tape dummies. If a DTD is necessary for your suit design, MFL will send you a link to instructions. Plan to enlist the aid of several helpers for about an hour or so. We can highly recommend the experience of hosting a DTD building party at your home or convention room. Invite your friends, bribe them with tasty treats, take turns getting taped up, and have fun!
More Fur Less fields a high volume of requests every week. Focused on quality, our low-volume workflow allows room for just a few commissions per quarter. We plan our production schedule carefully, many months in advance, so we can give each commission the full attention it deserves. We're dedicated to bringing your characters to life! If we weren't able to accept your request this time, please check back with us in a few months. We sometimes have cancellations or wiggle room for special projects, and may be able to accept your commission at a later time. We genuinely appreciate your interest. Please find us on social media to watch for announcements and to see our ever growing More Fur Less family in action!
Absolutely! You can order the additional costume parts needed to make your MFL suit a full suit later. When our production schedule has space for suit upgrades, we will do what we can to help our suiters experience the magic of a complete fullsuit. However, be aware that the more time passes, the more difficult it may be to exactly match the new material to the existing parts. Visible differences may occur due to natural wear from costume use, and availability of similar fabrics. This may include color variations between dye lots of the exact same product from the same supplier, an unavoidable natural result of small differences in every supplier's dyeing process. However, we're expert at finding ways to minimize the visible differences, and will do our best to create a unified finished product.
At this time, More Fur Less is only taking commissions for complete fursuits, aka fullsuits.
If you’re already part of the More Fur Less family and need new parts for your MFL suit, we will be more than happy to accommodate your request! it may be difficult to exactly match new material to the existing parts, and there may be some visible differences between the two sets. This may include color variations between dye lots of the exact same product from the same supplier, an unavoidable natural result of small differences in every supplier's dyeing process. However, we're expert at finding ways to minimize this, and will do our best to create a unified finished product. Due to the high demand for new More Fur Less fursuits, at this time we are unable to accommodate requests to match non-MFL suits with standalone MFL parts including handpaws, feetpaws, or tails.
At this time, More Fur Less is only taking orders for complete fursuits, aka fullsuits.
More Fur Less takes pride in quality finished products. We do not sell unfinished parts or materials.
More Fur Less makes characters with larger-than-life proportions, best experienced with a fullsuit. Most of our time and creativity goes into translating each character’s personality into a unique head design, followed by the process of crafting our complex hand- and foot-paws. After all that work, it’s a comparatively small effort to complete the look with a body suit, but the impact is huge when it comes to performing and bringing your character to life! More Fur Less has dedicated our workflow to creating fullsuits to give every suiter the best experience possible!
More Fur Less makes fursuit heads that are easy to wear. Anything that covers your entire head and face will restrict vision and airflow to some degree, but we've made it our mission to reduce discomfort as much as the medium allows. More Fur Less was founded on the principle that fursuits should be fun and safe. We engineer our heads for improved vision and breathability — without compromising the look of the character — and we continue striving to refine the art and science of making comfortable costumes.
Any full-body costume can restrict your senses and feel confining, and some people may feel a little overwhelmed or experience claustrophobia-like anxiety. But in our experience, fursuiting is just like any other new activity that takes getting used to: with repetition, the sensation will become normal, and most even find it comforting. You’ll soon likely be so distracted having a good time and making memories to focus on the fact that it's a suit. We design fursuits to become a part of you so that you can express yourself to the max!
More Fur Less can design your head to accommodate glasses. Let us know when you make your quote request that you'll be wearing glasses inside your fursuit head! Be aware that the fursuit head's warm, moist environment can cause lenses to fog. We recommend using an antifog treatment and taking care to clean your glasses thoroughly after fursuiting.
At this time, it is not possible to try on our existing heads (unless you know someone who is willing to let you try theirs). Our made-to-order costumes are built to fit a buyer's specifications, and our artistic liberty costume offers will clearly indicate the sizes they'll fit. Follow our measuring instructions so you'll know what will fit you.
Most More Fur Less fursuit bodies are machine washable. Some parts, like the head and feetpaws, may not be machine washable, but their care is not difficult. Check out our product care section for tips on how to keep your fursuit like new. And of course, MFL suiters are invited to contact us anytime with questions.
It's easy to keep your More Fur Less fursuit head clean and fresh. Check out our product care section for tips on how to clean your fursuit head and keep it nice. And of course, MFL suiters are invited to contact us anytime with questions.
More Fur Less will do our best to accept repair and refurbish requests for MFL suits, though service availability depends entirely upon our production schedule. Contact us directly to discuss your request and if our schedule allows, we'll suggest a completion date and estimated cost.
More Fur Less offers repairs for fursuits and parts made only by MFL. We do not offer refurbishments or repairs for outside work. Reach out to your suit's original maker to ask whether they provide repairs or referrals.
Fursuit completion times depend on the buyer's payment schedule, the length of our in-production queue, and the suit specifications (i.e., complexity of design and availability of materials). Right now our typical buyer can expect an estimated turnaround, from final payment to delivery notification, of about a year. Find How do you make fursuits? next in our FAQ to learn more about our team of artisans' complex process of design and fabrication — the combination of hard work and magic that goes into every More Fur Less fursuit.
More Fur Less is a diverse team of skilled designers and fabricators who work together to create character costumes in our unique More Fur Less style. When we receive an order, our designers review the reference art and character description closely for consistency, then use that along with the buyer's measurements to create custom patterns for fur, padding, and other costume elements. Our fabricators cast foam bases for the head, eyebrows, jaws, and other pieces, then carefully fit all the elements together. Meanwhile our designers craft and paint custom eyes, then carefully assemble the eyes and head to give the character its first spark of life. Then follows many hours of meticulous stitching, gluing, adjusting, and finish work.
For safety and insurance reasons, the More Fur Less studios are not open to the general public. Thanks for your understanding. However, we send our buyers regular work-in-progress updates and photos, and occasionally post behind-the-scenes videos and photos on our social media! Connect with @MoreFurLess on Twitter and follow @morefurlessinc on Instagram to join in the fun.
We encourage everyone to learn the skill of making! While we don't host any tutorials, there are many free online resources and supportive communities dedicated to the art of fursuit making, including costume design and fabrication.
More Fur Less sources materials on a project-by-project basis. While we maintain relationships with a number of trusted vendors, our supply chain is always evolving to account for project specs, budget, material availability, and market conditions. We always strive to create fursuits with quality materials that fit our clients' budget. Have special fur or materials in mind? Just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
Generally More Fur Less fursuits are 100% cruelty-free, made entirely with synthetic materials. They contain no fur, leather, or other animal-derived materials.
Sure. Every order is a little different, but here's everything we could think of that you might need to know in a fairly typical ordering situation. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
More Fur Less Order Process:
REQUEST QUOTE
Consult our estimate guide & figure out what type of suit you're ordering, additional pieces, etc.
To request an "Artistic Liberty" commission, the minimum you need to tell us is your budget. You can also suggest a species, digitigrade vs. plantigrade, or what colors to avoid, but for maximum fun just leave everything to us!
Get your reference materials in order, preferably including a good ref sheet depicting a front, side, and back view — this is the surest way to communicate a character's physical appearance! You may also submit a combination of various artwork that accurately represents all markings and fur colors from front, back, and side. If you're getting a new fursuit of your existing character suit, we'll accept photos showing the front, back, and side of the suit — again, you must own this suit or we cannot recreate the character!
We highly recommend Brooki for reference sheets! Her work makes it very easy for us to translate a character design into a costume pattern. Contact her at brookidingotaylor@gmail.com and tell her MFL sent ya.
Upload your visual reference somewhere that’s easy to get to (Dropbox, Furaffinity, etc.) that will allow us to download the images. Gather the links to your visuals and be prepared to explain why you’re including each one.
Fill out the More Fur Less quote request form and submit!
We’ll review the quote request and get back to you as soon as practical, usually within three business days and often faster.
If we can't currently accommodate your request, don't despair! We experience a very high request volume and do our best to help as many as possible, but there are always way more requests than we can possibly get to. Our production manager fills slots based on a number of factors including availability of labor and materials, workshop schedules, balancing the variety of critters we produce, and more. We make a practice of filling our queue slots only so far in advance, unless by special arrangement; you're welcome to send a new request in the future, or contact us to ask whether we may have space for a different character idea.
If your request is accepted, you’ll receive an email with your estimate and instructions for how to complete your order.
PLACE ORDER
The quote is valid for 30 days. To start your order, reply to the email within 30 days to accept the quote and discuss deposit/payment details Please note that queue positions are filled as buyers place their deposit, and delays in accepting a quote may result in a later position in the queue. Once you've accepted the quote, a non-refundable deposit of 20% is due by the end of the quote period, and we’ll work with you on a payment timeline.
When you make your final payment, you'll be added to the preproduction queue and will receive an email with an expected delivery window.
Buyers who pay in full at the time of accepting the quote will be added to the preproduction queue immediately.
PRODUCTION
MFL will establish a dedicated line of communication with you by email with occasional updates by text so our team can confirm details like design specs, measurements, delivery details, etc. Your suit's final price and delivery timeline may be subject to change due to factors including requested changes in design or measurements, market value of materials, and availability of materials.
Production begins! When we're ready to start building your suit, we'll ask for a set of your current measurements. Every suit is different and will be completed in a timely manner according to its specific requirements, material availability, and so on, so items may not be delivered in the same order in which they were paid. We'll keep you updated with progress reports and photos, and resolve any questions as they come up.
By default, MFL shares work-in-progress and final photos on social media and in our Telegram news channel, and may tag you or refer to your character name unless we've agreed otherwise. If you do not wish to be identified, or you want us to withhold public WIP/final photos until your big reveal, let us know at the time of ordering!
DELIVERY
Production completes! You'll be sent finished photos for your approval.
Upon approval, you'll be asked to confirm your shipping information — very important!
When you receive the package, review the packing list to confirm the contents, then try on the costume to test the fit.
If anything is missing, doesn't fit properly, or appears to be a manufacturing defect, contact us immediately with details and documentation.
Read our product care guide[link] to keep your suit happy & healthy as long as possible! This guide will always be online, but we'll also send a printed copy with your suit.
